WASTELAND by Lynn Rush

WASTELAND
by Lynn Rush

Series:  Wasteland, Book 1
Genre:  Paranormal Romance
Publication Date: August 1, 2011
Publisher - Crescent Moon Press

Bound by the blood contract his human mother signed four centuries ago, half-demon, David Sadler, must obey his demonic Master’s order to capture fifteen-year-old Jessica Hanks. But as he learns more about her, he realizes she may be the key to freedom from his demonic enslavement.
The only obstacle—Jessica’s distractingly beautiful Guardian, Rebeka Abbott. He must not give in to their steamy chemistry, or he will lose his humanity. But fresh off a quarter millennia of sensory deprivation as punishment for not retrieving his last target, he may not be able to resist temptation long enough to save what’s left of his human soul.

When David is released by his master from 250 years of sensory deprived captivity he is thrust into the world of life, color and touch. When he is sent to a club to locate his mark he can't keep his eyes away from a beautiful woman named Beka but he know he must not give in to his desires as it would transform him into a full demon and he wants to keep his last shred of humanity for as long as he can. When he finds out that Beka and her brother are Guardian's, whose job it is to protect the mark he was sent to retrieve, David has to decide whether to betray Beka, his master or himself.
I really enjoyed this book and couldn't read the pages fast enough. David has had a really crappy life. His mother sold him to the devil before he was even born and he must do his masters bidding or he suffers for it. When he is first released from his most recent captivity he is overwhelmed and out of touch with the times but he is watched by another demon who likes nothing more than to taunt and tempt him. His reaction to Beka is beautiful as he knows he cannot touch her. He is the perfect mix of alpha male with a lot of vulnerability thrown in. Beka is so different from him she is everything that is good and doesn't have any problem with protecting herself. She is intrigued by David as soon as she meets him but she doesn't know he is a demon. When David saves Beka and betrays his own kind he realizes he must try to find a way to get out of his contract and he realizes that his mark could be the key.
This book had it all. Action, romance, mystery and kept me guessing until the last minute. It is beautifully written and so easy to follow that it was a pleasure to read. I would recommend this to anyone who likes, angels, demons, action, romance and a story that will keep you up till 3am because you just couldn't put it down!

Post-apocalyptic Earth: after alien invasion, AEI, 2064 AD, The Wild
With her beloved Shifter mate two days in Oregon's ground, Sierra must choose to live or die. She has two options--join a Shifter clan by choosing a mate or live alone. Life is dangerous for a woman after the extraterrestrial invasion. Women choose protection in a group or are sold into slavery, even to the aliens. She opts for the protection of the clan, him.

He's glorious. Empathetic. And resolved to mark her. He will not lose her. Jackal, the powerful right-hand Shifter of the clan's leader, her brother-in-law, is determined she will be taken care of properly as mates aren't easily come by. Especially in The Wild. But they just met, and she fights mating in her early stages of mourning. Honor-bound with a vow made over his brother's death bed to see her safe, he internally swears to win her love. Whatever it takes.

But she harbors a dangerous secret. Born a Cougar, she dares not risk revealing she's a Shifter, or bounty hunters will descend upon the remote mountain village to capture her for extraterrestrials. Villagers would die in the attacks. However, her Cougar rises up to claim Jackal for its mate. Shifter meets Cougar. Cougar claims her mate. Never-ending fireworks mark their raw attraction. But when the post-apocalyptic world is determined to tear them apart, will Normals, Shifters, or aliens win? Bet your money on COUGAR.

Aliens have taken over the world and have genetically manipulated humans so that some are born shifters. Sierra suffers a tragedy when her mate dies and given to his brother Jackel for protection. What Jackel doesn't know is that Sierra is a cougar shifter, which is the shifter most sought after by aliens which meant that Sierra was more sought after than all others and is a target for humans to hand over to the aliens for money.
I loved the characters in this story! Sierra has suffered a lot in her life but she can take care of herself, in fact she can kick ass, she is also witty and charming in the way she doubts her own worth. Jackal is extremely hot but you sometimes want to bash him over the head for some of the things that he said and some of the things that he didn't! Yet this is one of the things that made him very endearing to me. I particularly loved the way he tries to spoil Sierra even as she is perplexed by it.

This is a story full of love, loss and danger around every corner. A great read!

Lost Wages of Sin by Rosalie Stanton

Lost Wages of Sin (Sinners and Saints, #1)

Lost Wages of Sin

Genre:  Paranormal Romance
Format:  ebook

Sins work is never done . . . . .

Ava should know. For nearly two thousand years, she's worked for Lucifer himself, infecting the heart of the man with greed wherever she goes. She wasn't prepared to fall in love, certainly not with an angel. And she definitely wasn't ready to experience her first broken heart after he breaks things off in the form of a Dear Jane letter. Now Ava has a problem. Lucifer believes she has shared some of Hell's secrets with her former lover, and her siblings face the possibility of being out of a job due to her indiscretion. Ava flees to the American South, hoping to slip off the radar, and is met by a longtime friend, a vampire named Dante. Granted, Ava doesn't know he has been in love with her for centuries, and doesn't understand why he won't leave her alone no matter what comes after her. With Hell on her trail, Ava's running short on friends. Meanwhile, she can't ignore the suggestive looks Dante keeps sending her way. Something tells her it doesn't take Hell to get things hot . . .

This is a paranormal romance. Ava is one of Lucifer's top employees and when she falls in love with an angel and hands in her resignation she makes a world of trouble for herself. What she doesn't know is that while she has been busy quitting her job so they could live happily ever after, Sebastian, the angel she fell for is writing her a letter telling her it's over! Now Ava has to deal with a broken heart and a boss chasing her because he thinks she told the angel Hell's secret. She is on her own and hiding when her friend Dante comes to help her. Dante has been in love with her for centuries and when he hears about the angel dumping her and the trouble she is in, he only wants to be with her a help her in any way he can.

I really like the concept of the world that the author has created as heaven and hell aren't as black and white as they are in other stories and this makes for some very interesting reading. Ava is very innocent for a two thousand year old creature of hell and it makes you root for her to overcome her trials. Dante is a sinfully sexy vampire with a heart dedicated to Ava. They are very different characters but are perfect for each other and it's great to read the chemistry between them. I would love this to be a series focusing on Ava and her siblings.

Firsts

Book Title:  Firsts
Author: Rosalie Stanton
Format:  ebook

Savannah is looking at entering college as a virgin. After getting her heart shattered by one of the high school's notorious playboys, she turns to her best friend, Thorn, and implores him to help her solve the tiny problem of her virginity. What she doesn't know is Thorn has been in love with her since the second he laid eyes on her, and asking him to touch what he can't have is nothing less than torture. After succumbing to her advances, Thorn makes it his mission to convey everything he hasn't been able to put into words into touch, hoping Savannah will feel in his hands and mouth what she has never seen in his eyes.

This is a coming of age erotic contemporary romance. This is the story of Savannah and Thorn who have been best friends since they were toddlers. Now that they are about to go to college Savannah decides that she want to lose her virginity to someone she trusts, and who does she trust more than her best friend Thorn. What she doesn't know is that Thorn has been in love with her since the first time he saw her at the age of three!

As this title suggests this is a story of first's. First times, first loves and first realizations. I found this to be a surprisingly sweet story, which I find is unusual in erotic romances. Savannah is like most young  girls of eighteen, naive, emotional and confused which makes it so easy to love her as most of us have been exactly the same at some point in our lives. She goes into situations head first without thinking about consequences which knocks her off her feet when things start to unravel in her plans. Thorn is a delectable man one who we would all like as a friend but would also like to have him for a side benefit as well. The sex scenes are steamy but the author has made them realistic and heartwarming at the same time. I loved the dialogue between the two main characters as it spoke of long time friendship. My only complaint about this book was that it was too short.
